How to Create a Pinterest Worthy Cutting Board Wall

Creating a cutting board wall in your kitchen is a fantastic way to combine functionality with aesthetic appeal. By strategically placing a variety of cutting boards on a dedicated wall space, you can easily access them while adding a unique and decorative element to your kitchen decor.

I have had this exact Pinterest photo saved to my “Kitchen” board for YEARS and finally had the perfect spot to make those Pinterest dreams come to life! Though I still have some more decorating to do, I simply could not wait any longer to share this SUPER easy kitchen decor idea with you all!

Between the organized display, the easy access to my cutting boards, and the overall aesthetic appeal it brings to this tall, bare space in my kitchen, I could not recommend this modern decor hack enough.

Installation Steps

To begin, you want to determine what area will be the most practical before installing your cutting board wall. Carefully measure the area to ensure you have enough space for multiple cutting boards to hang.

Prepare the wall by cleaning the surface where you'll be installing the cutting boards. If necessary, paint or touch up the wall to create a clean backdrop. Next, install the wall mounting hardware by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Don’t forget to use a level to make sure the rack/shelves are straight!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to choosing what you are going to hang your cutting boards from! You can use a towel bar, curtain rod or plumbing pipe. Since the bars come in all different lengths, you can make this as small or as large as you’d like. Hanging cutting boards and other kitchen knick-knacks is a great way to utilize empty wall space in your kitchen as well!

Being that my wall space was not very large, I did some extensive research to find the correct length rods. Ultimately I landed on these Pot & Pan Metal Bar Racks from Amazon because they were the perfect length for my kitchen! They were super easy to install and came with a ton of “S” shaped hooks to hang my decor on.

Now let's decorate!

Decorating this space was definitely the hard part because I am INCREDIBLY indecisive. I knew I wanted to include some color next to the various wood colors, so I found some objects with green and black to make the “collage” of cutting boards POP! I already had a cutting board we received as a wedding gift and a small wreath laying around, so I started by playing around with those 2 items in the layout. I went shopping for the rest of the decor and found this rustic cutting board at Home Goods for $16 and this mini cast iron skillet at Goodwill for just $1! I knew I wanted a round cutting board, but had no luck when shopping in person, so I found this gorgeous 16” Round Wood Cutting Board on Amazon and was blown away by the quality!

I do have some big plans to spice up this cutting board wall in the future, but for now, I am super happy with the outcome! Stay tuned later this year to see what I do to make this kitchen wall a big conversation starter! I’ll give you a hint: it is going to add lots of character!;)
